The house is in a great spot in central York, within the medieval city walls, within easy walking distance of all the attractions.
A special place for family and friends to get together, the characterful house was built along generous lines in around 1880 as the rectory for the beautiful, ancient church opposite (which has been a holy site since Roman times and contains some of the oldest medieval stained glass in York).
The decor is eclectic, with bright colours, lovely fabrics, original abstract art, antiques, vintage furniture and the work of brilliant local artisans and craftspeople.
The generous kitchen-dining room is well-equipped for large groups with farmhouse dining table, Rangemaster induction range, dishwasher, coffee machine and a pantry with washing machine and tumble dryer.
Gathering supplies is easy with the local market, independent delis, bakeries, butchers and fishmongers all nearby. The major supermarkets including Waitrose, Marks and Spencer, Morrisons, Tesco Metro and Sainsbury local are within ten minutes’ walk and all deliver. When you don't fancy cooking, some of York's best independent restaurants are on the adjoining street and there are loads of takeaway options.
The library sitting room has plenty of seating for everyone, a 55’ smart TV with Netflix, Nintendo Switch, board games and a wood-burning stove (starter pack of logs included).
You can enjoy the lovely enclosed courtyard garden with lots of comfy seating, barbecue, large dining table and a freestanding outdoor bath tucked away in a leafy corner as a chemical free alternative to a hot tub for two.
Reaching us is easy, you can drive to the door or the train station is less than a 20 minutes walk or five minute taxi ride. There's parking for up to 3 cars on-site, but if you need any more there are loads of nearby paid options.
The house will be ready by 4pm and flexible key box entry means you can arrive at any time after that as suits your plans. We ask that you leave by 10am so that the house can be thoroughly cleaned.
